Why HCPU Switched to Chloramines

When free chlorine reacts with naturally occurring organic matter in source water — and the Hillsborough River carries significant organic content from its watershed — it forms trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs). These compounds are regulated carcinogens at chronic exposure levels.
