PFAS Forever Chemicals in Florida Water: What Homeowners Need to Know

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances — commonly known as PFAS or "forever chemicals" — have emerged as one of the most significant water contamination concerns in the United States. What Are PFAS?

Health Concerns
The EPA finalized the first national drinking water standard for PFAS in 2024, setting maximum contaminant levels at 4 parts per trillion (ppt) for PFOA and PFOS. Research has linked PFAS exposure to increased cancer risk, thyroid disease, reproductive issues, immune system suppression, elevated cholesterol, and liver damage.
