The Problem: What Treated Municipal Water Still Contains

The Floridan Aquifer delivers naturally hard water to Indian River County. After treatment, total hardness typically remains in the 10 to 16 grains per gallon range — moderate to hard by national standards, and enough to create a distinctly mineral taste in plain tap water. The limestone geology that makes the Floridan Aquifer so productive also loads the water with calcium and magnesium bicarbonates that conventional treatment does not fully remove.

Standard RO membranes degrade when exposed to chloramine oxidation over time; catalytic carbon breaks the chloramine bond effectively, protecting the membrane and ensuring maximum performance longevity.

RO membrane: The core separation stage. Water produced by the membrane fills a pressurized storage tank and is available on-demand through a dedicated faucet. Production rates are more than adequate for a family's drinking and cooking needs.

Post-carbon polish: A final carbon stage refreshes the taste of stored RO water before it reaches the faucet, delivering fresh, clean-tasting water every time.

Finished RO water from a properly maintained system typically reads below 20 ppm TDS — compared to 200 to 400 ppm from typical Indian River County tap water.
